What Is GraphicDesign For?: Image- Charley Harper.

For a long time I have been really fond of artist Charley Harper's organic, and yet graphic illustative design. Illustrator Harper was inspired by nature and animals in his designs- giving each one personality, life and all his images were personified and lively.

Harper's designs and prints are still wildly popular today among artists, designers and buyers alike with a distinctive, and now still modern style (despite some dating from half a century ago and more).

Harper's work, is, of course, heavily illustrative and without text has little in the way of communication, but in the right context could work very effectively- perhaps modernising a wildlife magazine- attracting a more design-focused and youthful audience, and shake of negative connotations and ageist remarks they may currently hold.
