Design Practice II//Product/Range/Distribution//Walter Crane.

Whilst doing some general research about the Grimm's Brothers, as well as artistic interpretations of their works during the workshop session on Thursday, I came across the designs of English artist and illustrator, Walter Crane, who, during his life, was considered to be one of the most influentual and prolific illustrative designers of his day- notably working on illustrative representations of the Grimm's Brother's most popular stories (a selection of examples shown both above and below). Again, although a little too ornate and detailed for my more modern, graphic design approach, it is really interesting to see how the fairy tales were originally illustrated and interpreted, and an inspiration for me as to how I can still make them relevant for today but with a much crisper, minimal design aesthetic which still acts as a means of effective visual communication.
