Initially discussing the idea of working on a branding project together over a year ago, James and I have been fortunate enough to have had quite a few discussions about design tastes and potential design developments (which, at a later date, will be featured on my Design Practice blog).
One brand which we both really love, and feel that reflects James' design tastes and portfolio brilliantly, is timepiece producer, Uniform Wares (whose watches feature on the Dezeen Watch Store). With an interest in both Architecture, through his degree, and product design, this seems a natural choice, and the branding design by studio, Six, is clean, minimal, and reflects James' preference for modern, European sans serif typefaces. Also, the grey colour palette shown on the business cards and other printed stock would be a great choice to convey the materials, such as concrete, that James is familiar with, and is reasonably consistent throughout his design portfolio. A definite inspiration, I will undoubtedly return to Uniform Wares as a source of inspiration as the design development continues.

More information and image examples of Uniform Wares can be found above and below.

ABOUT UNIFORM WARES

"Established in 2009 by product designers, Oliver Fowles and Patrick Bek, the Uniform Wares aesthetic has been tailored with longevity in mind and a firm belief in design with a practical and visual permanence. Each collection is intentionally pared down and characterised by distinct form, considered use of materials and unique combinations of traditional horological details with robust engineered surface finishes. While the movements are handpicked from the best Japanese and Swiss manufacturers, every other component part of a Uniform Wares timepiece, from the CNC machined cases to the hand drawn font on the back of each case, is conceived, developed and designed in the company's London offices.
The precision that goes into designing and developing each Uniform Wares wristwatch collection is a slow, exacting process that results in each series being produced in small quantities with each subsequent series seeing the introduction of subtly alternative details.
Uniform Wares timepieces are available from this website and a select circle of UK and international retailers."
